Club Meeting:Tuesday, January 17, 2012 6:30pm
El Fenix
5280 Belt Line Road, Dallas

Commodore

Dale Powell

Your board met Tuesday the 3rd, and did two things, besides eat and talk: We voted to keep the annual dues the same this year, and we worked on the calendar. Please look it over and let us know what you think. You’ll find 7 day sail events starting in April. Please give us your input on these events and their dates. These could be picnics, picnics and sailing, lunch and sailing, dinner and sailing, etc. If a different day would work better for you, let us know. If you have location preferences, please tell us.</b></p>

Also, since I’m retired now, I don’t have easy access to when most folks get off for the 4 of July this year. Since it falls in the middle of the week this year, I’m confused and need some guidance.

Vice Commodore

Welcome to 2012. The board has voted to keep registration fees at $30.00 this year. Please fill out the attached form and send it along with your check to me. Or bring it to the January meeting at El Fenix in Addison. You know I won't let you leave until I have everyone's form and money. We look forward to seeing you January 17th and hope you are having a wonderful New Year!!

Good New Years to all.  It has been a while, but I am sure that most of us have been, for quite some time, waiting for the New Year to come along. I know I have been, and I don't know about you, but I am through with the old 2011. It was not a real good year, but it was not always bad for the Featherston family, for there were some really good times that we had when we were around the old VSCD friends and family. As far as I can tell, we are off to a good start with what was planned at the first board meeting. We may even have a couple of new places we just might check out as to where we can play a bit. Same bodies of water, just different places to go on the other ends of the horizons. Now you will also have to do something on your part too, first you have to pray to the rain god's for some of these bodies are gettin really low and even dry in places. Rain is always a good thing even when you really don't want it. The next thing requires a little planning on your part, cause you are goin to know about it well in advance. Example, we all know that we are planning on goin to Wood Island for the Bachelor cruise, Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day , so you see, here's part of you "Forward" planning for the year . It's there, the dates are set and you don't have any excuses for not being there. The next thing you have to do is to actually show up for these planned outings. About the only reason we would not go there is if the Corp of Engineers scares everybody again like they did last Labor Day, and I am sure there was good cause to do so. So if that does happen we got a couple of other places we can go that may work out just as well.

Now, the dates haven't been set yet, but we do plan on some more evening and day sales on area lakes. Without saying, this also depends on the rain god's smiling on us for just enough rain so we can go and play in the sand or on a grassy knoll someplace close by. It takes some of us a while to set up our boats who still trailer from lake to lake, and it makes us feel that it was worth the effort when our extended families show up to enjoy or labors of sweat equity. Then we have to tear down things so we can go home and think about what fun we all had during this time, for if only just for a while . It's going to happen because some are going to make sure it does happen. That is what we are all about, getting together either at a local restaurant or on an area lake to visit only proves what the VSCD is here for.

I'm goin one way or the other, and everybody is invited. Remember, there is always a rainbow after every rain.
